Billing and plans
What Free and Pro include, the price, how to upgrade through Dodo Payments, and what happens when you cancel or downgrade.
Updated 4 min read
Tangentflow has two plans, Free and Pro. Billing in the sidebar shows your usage, both plans, and your subscription. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, so card details never touch Tangentflow.
Free and Pro
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $29 per month |
| Requests at a time | 1 | Unlimited (fair-use ceiling of 1,000) |
| Files kept | 7 days | Up to 60 days |
| AI checks per month | 50 | 5,000 |
| Tangentflow badge on client page | Yes | No |
| AI autopilot and agent (reminders, follow-ups, answers, auto-submit, auto-finish) | First request only | Every request |
| Clients reply by email with attachments | First request only | Yes |
| Delivery to Google Drive or a webhook | No | Yes |
| AI assistants over MCP (Claude, ChatGPT) | No | Yes |
| Batches from a spreadsheet | No | Yes |
On Free, a request counts toward the limit until it is deleted. That happens 24 hours after you mark it complete, or at its retention date, whichever comes first. The sidebar shows "Active requests 1/1" so you can see where you stand.
Free's first request is a trial: it runs with the autopilot, the agent and email replies switched on, while keeping Free's limits. The Getting started page explains when the trial counts as used.
What the Billing page shows
At the top, two bars show Active requests and AI checks this month against your plan's limits. Below are the two plan cards, with a "Current plan" badge on yours. When you have a subscription, a card shows its status (for example "Subscription active"), the Next billing date, and a Manage billing button.
Upgrading to Pro
- Open Billing (or press Upgrade to Pro anywhere it appears in the app).
- Press Upgrade to Pro on the Pro card.
- You are taken to Dodo Payments to pay. Your signed-in email is passed along so the subscription is tied to your business.
- After paying you return to Billing (or to the page you came from, such as setup). The page shows "Confirming your payment…" for a few seconds while Dodo tells Tangentflow the subscription is active, then your plan switches to Pro.
If the button is grayed out and the page says "Billing isn't configured in this environment yet", payments are not set up on that deployment.
Managing or cancelling
Manage billing opens your customer portal at Dodo Payments, our payment provider, and brings you back to Billing afterward. Your card and subscription are managed there rather than in Tangentflow.
Your plan follows the subscription status Dodo reports. "Active" and "past due" both keep Pro, so a failed card payment does not cut you off during Dodo's grace period. Any other status, such as cancelled or expired, returns the business to Free when Dodo sends that event.
What happens on downgrade
Downgrading never deletes data early. Every existing request keeps the retention it was created with, and the Billing page says so at the bottom. From the moment the plan is Free:
- New requests follow Free's limits: one request at a time, files kept 7 days.
- Autopilot settings on your checklists are kept but switched off. The agent stops sending reminders and follow-ups, stops answering clients, and delivery to a destination no longer runs. Turning Pro back on restores them as saved.
- Batches and destinations return "This is part of Pro. Upgrade in Billing to use it." Assistants over MCP are Pro too.
- The "Collected securely with Tangentflow" line returns to the client page.
AI check limits
Every file sent to the AI for checking uses one AI check for the calendar month: 50 on Free, 5,000 on Pro. The count resets with the month. A check is only counted when a model call actually happens. Files that are never sent to the AI do not count: Word and Excel forms, signed releases made on the page, videos without an audio track, and any item where you switched the AI check off.
When the limit is reached, uploads still arrive and are stored. They are marked "Received" instead of being checked, and they still count toward completing the checklist. The AI agent's replies and summaries are separate from this counter.
FAQ
Is there an annual plan or a discount?
No. Pro is $29 per month.
Can I delete my account while on Pro?
Not with an active subscription. Cancel it first through Manage billing, wait for the plan to return to Free, then delete your account from Settings.
I paid but the page still says Free.
Confirmation comes from a webhook that normally arrives within seconds. The Billing page re-checks every three seconds while it shows "Confirming your payment…". If it does not switch after a few minutes, contact support@tangentflow.com with the email you paid with.
Does Pro really have no request limit?
The pricing says unlimited. There is a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 requests not yet deleted, and requests are deleted automatically after completion.
