Community guidelines

TangentFlow is a place for real handwriting from real people. These guidelines keep it that way. They apply to notes, replies, letters and profiles.

Write it by hand

• Every post, reply and letter must be something you wrote or drew by hand on paper (or a similar surface). Take the photo with the TangentFlow camera, or upload a photo of your page. Uploads are marked "Uploaded" instead of getting a capture badge.
• No screenshots, printed or typed pages, photos of screens, or AI-generated images. Photos without handwriting aren't published.
• Crossed-out words, doodles, smudges and wobbly lines are welcome. They're the point.

Write your own words

• Share your own writing and drawings. Copying out a short quote is fine; say who said it.
• Don't pretend to be someone else, or post someone else's handwriting as your own.
• Don't post other people's private information: addresses, phone numbers, IDs, or private messages.

Be kind

• No harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves.
• No hate against people for who they are, including race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.
• No sexual content, and nothing that sexualises minors, ever. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
• No graphic violence, and nothing that promotes violent extremism or terrorism.
• No spam, scams, or content made to deceive.
• Nothing illegal, including selling illegal goods or services.

Letters

Letters are private and aren't screened, but these guidelines still apply. If someone you don't follow writes to you, their letter arrives as a request that you can accept or decline. You can report a letter or block its sender at any time.

If you see something wrong

Use Report from the menu on any note, profile or letter. Reports go to a person, not just an algorithm. You can also mute someone (you stop seeing them) or block them (they can't see you or write to you).

What happens when guidelines are broken

Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, hold it for review, limit an account, or suspend it. If your post was rejected because we couldn't find handwriting and you think that's wrong, tap Ask for a review on the post. For anything else, write to hello@tangentflow.com.
